Policy: We call for women’s safe spaces to be kept safe, including women’s toilets and changing rooms. The definition of a woman must not be changed to include men who have transitioned to becoming woman-like. Men who have transitioned to become woman-like should not be allowed to compete in women’s sport.

Explanation: We recognise the equal rights of all people to live their lives free from discrimination and abuse.

There are situations where it is necessary to discriminate in order to maintain equality. The provisions made by the exceptions to the Equality Act – to allow discrimination on the basis of sex in situations where women are more likely to be vulnerable (such as changing rooms, hospital, at-home care settings, prisons, and toilets that have a shared area rather than being self-contained) – should stand as they are, and it would be helpful if the law could be clarified so that ‘sex’ means biological sex. We support the right of women to compete in sport fairly – that is, they should not be made to compete against people born male.
