Policy: We will always call for a ceasefire and a negotiated peace in all conflicts. People never want war, only those who profit from war do.
Explanation: The right to self-determination is essential for all people, and all people deserve to enjoy peace and security, and freedom and dignity.
With regards to the situation in Israel-Palestine: We support the right of all people, both Palestinian and Israeli, to enjoy peace and security.
We advocate for an immediate, permanent ceasefire & hostage deal in the current situation. Further we would:
- End arms licences to Israel
- Uphold the judgements of the ICC and ICJ
- Protect the right to protest
- Commit to an expansive and collaborative effort to combating antisemitism and Islamophobia
- Restore funding to UNRWA
- End the UK’s complicity in Israel’s occupation and apartheid
All our candidates have completed the PSC questionnaire and have answered ‘yes’ to all of the questions.
We support a new political settlement that recognises the equal worth of Palestinian and Israeli life, and that will ensure both the peace and security and the freedom and dignity of all citizens in the territory covered by the modern state of Israel and by the occupied Palestinian territories.
We support the work of civil society peace movements organised by Palestinians and Israelis, such as Standing Together.
Policy: Oppose plans to increase the defense budget and support a reduction of the defense budget by 10% over the course of the next five years.
Explanation: We will invest in building peace to make a genuinely secure world to leave our children.
